Saturday's Surrey League match at Epsom Downs started well with another good turnout from the Juniors.
Once again Phil Bearman jnr finished first, despite running in a parkrun earlier in the day with his dad. With only five seconds between them, next in were Neil Wellard (4th) and Harry Reynolds (5th). Not too far behind them was Josh Hall in 10th, followed by under 13 Sam Shaw.
Well done guys - in the U15/U17 age category K&P are first in the table, and in the U13's Sam has ensure we are second.
15 runners turned up for the Men's race, and I reckon it was the best overall team performance from us all I have seen. Our scorers all finished by 58!
First in again (3rd) was James Robertson, who narrowly beat Harry Johnston (4th) on his xc debut for K&P. Well done both, and welcome to Harry!
Despite a recent cycle accident,Richard Mathie still managed to finish in the top ten (9th). Next up was myself in 26th, closely followed by Andy Arbour (31st). Jamie McCullagh, Phil Bearman (snr), Michael Huntley, Ron Taylor and Mike Maranzano completed the scoring line up.
There was a good run from Ben Reynolds and good to see Ant enjoying this race, both showing improvement on the first League match. Great to see Jonathan Darby and Rupert Bole in attendance too, along with David Greenfield and Geoff Reed completing the team.
In the end we finished in 3rd place, and also move up to 3rd in the division from 5th. I'm really pleased - you never know, we stand a chance of stealing second if we get just as many of us out in matches 3 and 4! (And another strike at Div One in the footsteps of Bob McDonough! Ed)
